This is it! During the interview process, the consular officer will review the approved visa petition and may ask for additional information and documents such as photographs and other proof of your relationship.

This is the last phase of the visa process and is crucial in the sense that this is the part where the applicant must convince the consular officer during the interview that the relationship is bona fide and is based on mutual respect and understanding and not in any way intended for immigrant visa benefits.

It is also important to know that the US citizen must show sufficient income to convince the government that the applicant will not become a public charge once admitted into the United States. You may use assets to compensate for the income requirement. As the petitioner, you will need to submit an Affidavit of Support to meet the income requirement.

Together with the Affidavit of Support, the applicant must submit Civil document obtained from the appropriate local government offices in the Philippines. The local US Consulate in Manila will provide a checklist detailing the documents that the applicant needs to prepare and present during the interview. Before the scheduled interview, the alien fiancée will have to undergo and pass the medical examination. The accredited medical facility in the Philippines is St. Luke's Extension Clinic which is two (2) blocks away from the US embassy in Manila.

In some cases, there may be additional instructions for collecting additional documentation or evidence needed after a visa interview before the local U.S. consulate issues the appropriate visa.
